Dr. Tony's Sensible Eating Plan Continues...
|Phase II: 2nd 6 months
Coffee and Organic Tea
Cut consumption to one 8-12 oz cup in the morning before 10 a.m. Sweeten with local honey, rice or almond milk.
Reduce alcohol consumption to a maximum of 3 times a week. Remember to always give your liver a day off after drinking alcohol. Also, remember the old adage: Quality over Quantity.
Farm Fresh Produce
Visit a Farmer's Market or local farmer, join a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture), begin an organic vegetable subscription, or grow your own organic vegetables. Try to have vegetables at every meal and for snacks. Vegetables should be the largest portion of food on your plate.
Cakes, pies, cookies and candy should be limited to special occasions like Thanksgiving or your birthday. It is not what you do once in a while that gets you. It's your daily habits that matter!
Eliminate cereals, rice, potatoes, breads, flour, pasta, chips and crackers. These are high in carbohydrates and turn into sugar in our bodies.
Ileocecal Valve Care
Be kind to your ileocecal valve by avoiding: POPCORN (but you were already avoiding corn, right?), chips, whole grains, nuts and seeds of a quantity greater than one handful at at time, spicy foods like Mexican or Thai (if it burns your tongue it will burn your ICV), sushi / well water (Parasites!), excess alcohol, excess chocolate and excess caffeine.
Protein Smoothies for Breakfast
Sustitute Whey Protein Smoothies when you get tired of having eggs for breakfast or you don't have time to make breakfast. Recipe: 2 scoops of Hydrolized Whey Protein (available at Mountain Spring), 1/3 cup of frozen organic blueberries, 1/2 tsp of Lactobacillus Probiotic powder, 1 banana, 1/2 cup of rice milk, 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk, optional - ice. Mix in blender and enjoy! Optional: Summertime add 1 TBL of fresh ground flax seeds. Wintertime add 1 TBL cod liver oil.
Steel Cut Oatmeal
Once a month or when bowels get slow.
